REVENUE MOBILISATION ALLOCATION AND FISCAL COMMISSION (RMAFC) HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE ON REVIEW OF REVENUE ALLOCATION FORMULA

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) will tomorrow, Monday 18th August 2025, address the nation through a press conference in Abuja to enlighten citizens and stakeholders on the ongoing review of the Revenue Allocation Formula.

The review process, which forms part of the Commission’s constitutional mandate, is aimed at ensuring fairness, equity, and transparency in the distribution of the Federation’s revenue across the federal, state, and local governments.

In line with its commitment to accountability and public engagement, the Commission will use the press conference to provide clarity on its role, dispel misconceptions, and share updates on progress made so far.

Speaking ahead of the briefing, the Commission noted that the review is critical to strengthening fiscal federalism, empowering states and local governments to meet their obligations, and fostering inclusive development nationwide.

The Commission also reaffirmed that the review will be carried out in consultation with key stakeholders, including governments at all levels, civil society organisations, academia, and the media.

The RMAFC urges Nigerians to view the exercise as a collective effort towards national prosperity, equity, and cohesion.

RMAFC Charts a Path for Equity as It Enlightens Nigerians on Revenue Allocation Formula

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is once again stepping into the national spotlight as it prepares to host a press conference in Abuja tomorrow, Monday 18th August 2025, to shed light on its ongoing review of the Revenue Allocation Formula — a process with profound implications for Nigeria’s economic balance, governance, and national unity.

As mandated by the Constitution, RMAFC plays a critical role in ensuring equitable distribution of the Federation’s revenue among the three tiers of government. Beyond revenue sharing, the Commission also determines the salaries and allowances of public, political, and judicial officeholders while advising governments on fiscal diversification and improved revenue generation.

The review of the Revenue Allocation Formula is not just about numbers; it is about justice, equity, and development. Nigeria’s federal, state, and local governments rely on statutory allocations to deliver critical services — from healthcare and education to infrastructure and security. A fair and transparent allocation system ensures that citizens across all regions feel the impact of governance.

At a time of economic challenges, high expectations from citizens, and renewed calls for fiscal federalism, RMAFC’s decision to openly engage the public is a bold step toward transparency and inclusion. The Commission’s message is clear: every stakeholder matters, and every citizen counts.

Over the years, some of RMAFC’s statutory functions have been misunderstood or underreported. The Commission’s new communication approach seeks to reverse this trend. By proactively engaging the media and citizens, RMAFC aims to restore trust, correct misconceptions, and reaffirm its relevance in shaping Nigeria’s fiscal landscape.

Tomorrow’s press conference is expected to highlight not only the technical aspects of the review but also the broad national vision — ensuring equity, fostering unity, and creating a framework that drives sustainable growth across all 36 states, the FCT, and 774 local government areas.

RMAFC’s press conference is more than an institutional update; it is an invitation to Nigerians to participate, engage, and support a process that will define the country’s fiscal future.

In taking this step, the Commission is demonstrating courage, accountability, and vision — values that are essential to national progress. The review of the Revenue Allocation Formula is ultimately about shared prosperity, balanced growth, and national cohesion.

Tomorrow, Nigerians will not just hear from RMAFC; they will witness an institution recommitting itself to fairness, transparency, and the people it serves.
