Fuel Prices Rise as Supply Tightens — Sowunmi

September 14, 2026 By Sheba James Gala
Energy expert Olabode Sowunmi has attributed the recent rise in petrol prices to supply constraints and increased demand.

Speaking on the fuel price situation, Sowunmi explained that reduced supply creates stronger competition among buyers, putting upward pressure on prices.

He noted that supply and distribution challenges remain key factors affecting petrol prices, alongside other market conditions.
Sowunmi’s comments come amid renewed concerns over rising fuel prices and their impact on Nigerian households and businesses.
