Food inflation, a major driver of household expenses, fell to 19.57 per cent year-on-year, while its monthly rate dropped sharply from 5.56 per cent in July to 1.02 per cent in August.
The figures indicate a moderation in the pace at which consumer prices are rising, although food and other essential goods remain significant pressures on household budgets.
