Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has surprised his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, with a bouquet of flowers before sharing a kiss with her at the opening ceremony of the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference in Lagos.
The moment occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the conference organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO). The event was held under the theme, “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint.”
Sanwo-Olu presented the flowers while delivering his speech at the gathering, using the occasion to appreciate and honour his wife for her contributions.
“On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you; we want to honour you,” the governor said.
The couple subsequently shared a kiss as Nigerian singer 2Baba’s hit song, African Queen, played at the event. A video capturing the moment circulated online, attracting attention from social media users.
The 26th edition of the annual conference brought together women and other stakeholders for discussions on leadership, personal development, empowerment and the role of women in society. It also provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas and explore ways to create opportunities for women and younger generations.
During the conference, Sanwo-Olu also called on accomplished women in business, public service and other professions to mentor younger women, create opportunities for them and help prepare the next generation of female leaders.
