Reno Omokri Gives Reasons Behind Uber’s Nigeria Exit

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has offered his view on why ride-hailing giant Uber recently ended its operations in Nigeria.

Omokri argued that improved public transportation in Lagos, particularly the Blue and Red Line rail services, as well as transport options in Abuja, may have reduced reliance on ride-hailing services.

However, his comments differ from Uber’s official explanation. The company said its decision followed a review of its business priorities and investment focus, without giving a specific reason for leaving Nigeria. Uber ended its Nigerian operations on September 2 after about 12 years in the country.

Industry reports have also linked the challenging ride-hailing environment to rising fuel and vehicle-maintenance costs, fare pressures and increasing competition.
