15-Year-Old Girl Rescued After Alleged Months-Long Detention in Rivers

A 15-year-old girl identified as Amarachi has been rescued after she was allegedly locked in a toilet for months by her employers in Abuloma, Rivers State.

Amarachi, from Ebonyi State, was reportedly working as a domestic help for a couple, identified as Eze Simeon and his wife. She was allegedly confined as punishment and subjected to severe neglect.

The girl was rescued on Monday, September 14, after reportedly calling for help when the couple left the house. Neighbours heard her and alerted the police, who arrived and secured her release.

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, with spokesperson SP Agabe Blessing saying an investigation is ongoing.
